Mr. James R. Evans

There are 2 aspects that makes up Mr. James R. Evans. One is his love and desire for the Christian God of the Bible..
The other is his overwhelming “geekdom”. Yes, He is a proud nerd who likes Sci-Fi and Comic Books.

August 29th 2007 God made me aware of my election. I have been seeking God all of my life and have had a love for God, but it wasn’t until then before God pulled the scales off of my eyes, pulled out of the Oneness Pentecostal heresy and showed me what salvation truly is. Salvation is accomplished by the almighty power of the triune God. The Father chose a people, the Son died for them, the Holy Spirit makes Christ’s death effective by bringing the elect to faith and repentance, thereby causing them to willingly obey the Gospel. The entire process (election, redemption, regeneration) is the work of God and is by grace alone. Thus God, not man, determines who will be the recipients of the gift of salvation. It was nothing I have done to merit His Grace.

Since then I have diligently spent time in theological books. Most of the authors I read have been dead over 150 years. (with the exception of Arthur Pink) I delved in to learning as much koiné Greek as i could for New Testament studies and textural criticism.

People would ask me what religion I am, for a while all I could answer was Puritan. I am Reformed Presbyterian and go to Reformation Church (http://worldunderchrist.com) who follows the regulative principle of worship. We subscribe to “Exclusive Psalmody” in our worship service  along with a lot of Scripture reading. It was God’s Grace that brought me to this church.

I am married to my best friend and high school sweetheart since October 5th 1997 and we have had 2 wonderful kids I am trying to raise as scriptural as I can. We Home-school and meet at a Co-Op in San Marcos (C.H.E.C.) My kids are involved in 4H and show chickens.

 

I am a geek, in to sci-fi and comic books. I love movies and TV series. I am also in to cosplay (dressing up in costumes and going in to public) like Steampunk events, TX Renaissance Festival, Scarborough Fair, and the Star Wars Society of San Marcos.
